  • Lucy, our manager at Wood Green enters bodybuilding competition!

Our very own Lucy from Wood Green is entering the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation competition on the 22nd July at St Albans Arena. She is entering the ‘Figure’ category & it is her first ever competition, inspired by the transformation of a friend that competed early this year.

Lucy has had to totally change her training regime. She’s training three days on, one day off and is lifting more weight than ever before. She is also still teaching all her usual classes at easyGym – Bodycombat and Spin, and following a very strict diet which is high in protein, low in carbs.

So how is the competition judged?  Each class is brought to front center stage and is guided through quarter turns to display physiques from the front, left, back, and right. Physiques are scored based on feminine symmetry, toned muscularity and relative leanness. ‘Toned muscularity’ means visible signs of strength training should be present, and ‘relative leanness’ means a competitor should show good definition. There should be noticeable abdominal separation and some visible lines in the quadriceps. Lucy also has to prepare a 60 second presentation to music where she poses!

Lucy has her eye on qualifying for the finals which means she’ll need to be placed 1st or 2nd place, and says “I’m really enjoying training although currently have injured my back so it is a bit difficult at the moment, but I’m hoping for a quick recovery! I have 8 weeks to go until the competition and getting lots of support from the people around me. I can’t wait!”

Please join us in wishing Lucy the very best of luck and give her some encouragement if you see her training!
